I don't do pregnant well. Before Simon I had been pregnant several times and all but one ended badly. (I am looking forward to meeting them in heaven.) We were going to adopt and while there was no true guarantee that we would get the first one offered us, it felt much more secure. Then there was a test and two lines, and five more tests with two lines on each. I was thrilled and scared and angry all at once.
All I wanted to be when I was a child is a mommy!!I use to carry around baby dolls all the time!!I REALLY REALLY WANTED a baby boy!I wanted to start a family early in my life and I was 21 when I found out I was pregnant with my 1st I literally fell to my knees and thanked God!!I was so overjoyed because God was blessing me with a baby!!I had so many complications with my prenancy but 2 months before he came I found out he was a "HE"!!Ricky came 5 wks early but he was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen!!I went into labor while I was on vacation!!So he is my lil "Floridian" and we survived 2 hurricanes before we could come home!!:)
We found out about Brenna, our first, right before Christmas! That year we had fun "gift giving" to our parents! We weren't expecting to be expecting. We were nervous, excited, and scared all at the same time!!
We'd been trying to get pregnant for about a year and had lost a baby at 6wk gestation in Dec of '04. In Aug of 05 I was feeling pretty yucky and hot (it was August!) I was hoping it was a baby, but wasn't sure. Since I was at high risk, my doctor gave me a blood test and determined that I was pregnant!! I found out but had to wait a while to tell Ed in person during his lunch time. I killed some time because I had to go to the mapping room at the courthouse for something and while I was there, I told an employee I was pregnant (I didn't know her) because I just couldn't keep it to myself! By lunch, I'd bought a "congratulations, I heard you're going to be a mommy" card and crossed "Mommy" out and wrote "Daddy". It was so great to see Ed's face as he chewed his big hamburger bite and started to cry reading the card!
My doctor had told me for years that I may not get pregnant again for health reasons. Carmen and I decided we would try. It only took two weeks after stopping birth control. The problem was I couldn't tell anyone because my sister was days away from her dream wedding! I kept a secret for the next two weeks. (YES, I did keep the secret!) I had a florist friend find baby balloons and make an arrangement. I went straight to Carmen's new job and surprised him with the balloons. It was fun to see his expression in front of everyone!
When I first found out about my first child Hailey, I was in shock and did not leave the bathroom for a long time. My husband was the one who thought I was and had me take a test. My poor husband was waiting downstairs for me to give him the news and I just sat in the bathroom and cried. I was so afraid my whole life of child birth that I just couldn't believe it was true! Of course, when I finally came out and told him, he was so excited it made me feel a lot better! Obviously, I made it threw the scary part and am now about to have my third!!
